Waxing

Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal as it removes the whole of the hair including the root. After waxing it usually takes four to six weeks for a new hair to grow back, however this does depended on an individual’s hair growth cycle. I offer all types of facial waxing, including eyebrows, lips and chin. Repeated waxing of an area over long periods of time can cause hair regrowth to become finer and softer. Due to my busy diary I am no longer able to offer appointments for leg, underarm or intimate waxing.

Facial Waxing prices start from £5 to book a waxing appointment in my homesalon in Stevenage, please visit my contact me page.

To find out more about me, my skills and experience please visit my about me page. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have prior to booking an appointment.

After care advice

Please note the following that the following reactions are quite common after a waxing treatment and are perfectly normal, temporary reactions. Any of the below symptoms should subside within 24-48 hours-

  • Small bumps and redness
  • Slight soreness (If you experience persistent soreness and redness please do not hesitate to contact me)
  • Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 to 48 hours. This means avoiding extreme heat for 24 hrs. Such as very hot baths/showers, steam rooms, saunas and Jacuzzi’s as this can aggravates the skin and the pores are still open. You could also pick up an infection from public places.
  • Exposure to UV light, including sun beds and sunbathing, must be avoided for 24 hours following treatment, as burning can occur.
  • No massage or heat treatment for 24 hours.
  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools.
  • Don’t apply fake tan for 24 hours over the waxed area.
  • For women make-up should be avoided for 24 hours following facial waxing.
  • Deodorant or anything perfumed should not be applied to the area that has been waxed for 24-48 hours as this could make the area sore.
  • Waxing removes dead skin so the skin may be a little lighter immediately following treatment but colour will return to normal within a few hours.
  • A heat reaction may be seen on the skin for several hours following treatment and this is quite normal. This will vary from a mild redness to a much stronger skin reaction and some people have red dots on the waxed area for several hours.
  • Do not touch the area as pores will be open and you don’t want any dirt or oil to get in as this may cause you to get spots.
  • If the aftercare advice given is followed the skin will return to normal within 24 hours. If the reaction is still present after this time or worsens, it may be that you have had an allergic reaction to the wax, and you should seek medical advice from your GP.
